The BUB182Z features a Makita-built high-torque motor with a no load speed of 0-18,000 RPM and an air velocity of 179 mph. The BUB182Z has three speeds: Low (75 minute run-time); Medium (25 min.); and High (12 min.) when using the full-size 18V LXT Lithium-Ion battery (sold separately). The BUB182Z will also run on Makita's 18V Compact Lithium-Ion battery (sold separately).

It performs the shop duties of an air blow gun without the need of a compressor and hoses. The variable speed function is invaluable from heavy volume in cleaning out the buildup of dust and chips in tablesaws and planers, to the light "dusting off" needed on shelving and drawers (without blowing away the contents). It is equally as impressive on a job site as in the shop. The ability to clean off all the dust on your clothing from working around heavy sawdust, drywall dust etc. - this alone makes the blower a must have.It would be hard to justify the purchase of this if it were to be the only LXT tool one were buying, given the fact that a charger and battery together will run $100+.
